Engineering works on Heerstraße for the future expansion of the electricity network

24.07.2016

During the summer holidays, engineering works will be taking place on Heerstraße/on the corner of Gatower Straße.

During the summer holidays, engineering works will be taking place on Heerstraße/on the corner of Gatower Straße. Conduits will be laid in the ground here as an "underpass" on Gatower Straße for the future expansion of the electricity network. The works will begin on 26 July and continue until 4 September.

The engineering works are divided into two three-week construction phases. For the entire duration of the engineering works, it will not be possible to turn left from Heerstraße into Gatower Straße going towards the city centre. During the first phase of the works, it will also not be possible to turn right from Gatower Straße into Heerstraße going away from the city centre, and during the second phase of the works to turn left into Heerstraße going away from the city centre.

Once the works are completed, in future it will then be possible to expand the distribution network of Stromnetz Berlin without having to encroach on the road traffic in the area around Heerstraße/Gatower Straße again.
The time frame of the engineering works was set by the Berlin traffic management authority for the 2016 summer holidays in order to keep the impact on local residents and traffic to a minimum.
