Establish, change and dismantling - submit a request

An overview of the process and the requirements for establishing a new medium-voltage connection in an openly operated medium-voltage ring can be found in the information sheet on connecting customer systems to an openly operated medium-voltage ring.

Information on submitting an application

Grid connection: open 10 kV ring, with a reference power of up to 800 kVA and one transformer
Please apply for a new medium-voltage grid connection to an open 10 kV ring with a reference power of up to 800 kVA and one transformer via our customer portal. Registration is required to apply via the customer portal. The necessary data for the application is also recorded/documented in our customer portal.

Grid connection with a contracted power of more than 800 kVA and more than one transformer Please submit applications for a new medium-voltage grid connection with a contracted power of more than 800 kVA and more than one transformer, as well as for modifications to existing medium-voltage connections, by email. Please use the email address provided below.

Grid connection with a power requirement > 3.5 MVA
For a grid connection with a power requirement of more than 3.5 MVA, participation in our allocation procedure is mandatory.

Application documents

We require for the establish or a change of a connection:

  • Power of attorney from the owner (if the owner and the account holder are not the same person, a power of attorney from the account holder is also required)
  • the completed forms E.1, E.2 and possibly E.8 of the VDE-AR-N 4110
  • the expected power requirement (net output); if your information on the desired contract power is given in kW (active power), we will equate this to kVA (apparent power) – unless you provide us with the apparent power value or the displacement factor cosϕ
  • a site plan to scale (1:500) showing the location of the plot to be connected. If you already have a proposed location for your handover point, please mark this and the desired cable route on the plot or within the building on the site plan,
  • information on the field, parcel, district and the property owner and leaseholder.
  • Technical requirements for medium voltage grid – forms from appendix E of VDE-AR-N 4110

Dismantling grid connection

To decommission your transfer station and subsequently dismantle the medium-voltage connection, please send the completed Form E.1 of VDE-AR-N 4110 to the post office box address given below.

Contract documents

We offer you a connection installation contract for the connection to the medium-voltage grid.

For the use of your connection, you will receive

If you use your connection yourself, you will receive a grid connection contract and a connection usage contract.

The contract also contains the following attachments:

Historically, in the case of existing connections, the following property boundaries are also conditionally available:

Note: Further explanations regarding terms such as power recipient, connection user, grid connection contract and connection usage contract can be found in our glossary.

The set up or change of connections in the medium- and high-voltage grid takes place after 17 EnWG in connection with our „General and technical conditions for connection and connection use in the medium- and high-voltage grid“.

    Approved equipment

Manufacturers of medium-voltage switch gears that are permitted to be installed in the distribution grid receive a corresponding certificate of approval from us before they are installed. If equipment from other manufacturers is installed, it must be checked and approved by the Distribution System Operator before use.

For information on approved equipment, please contact your personal representative here or send an email to [email protected].

    Carrying out electrical installation work

As a Distribution System Operator, we keep a directory that contains a register of electricians who are permitted to construct, expand, alter or maintain the systems on our distribution grid. When choosing your electrician, please ensure that he or she is registered in our directory and has the necessary credentials.

Connection of a station for providing power to a construction site

The following guidelines apply to temporary connections and to the operation of a customer-owned station for providing power to a construction site with a transformer of up to 630 kVA:

Technical guidelines for stations for providing power to a construction site 2009

If you require a temporary connected capacity greater than 630 kVA, our technical requirements apply. You will find the documents at 'Technical documents'

The application, planning and commissioning procedures and practices for stations for providing power to a construction site are identical to those that apply to an application for a new medium-voltage connection.

At the moment, the individual connection costs are the only charge that applies to the connection of a station for providing power to a construction site. The connection of a station for providing power to a construction site does not currently require the customer to make a contribution towards building costs.

    Note

Since May 2016, the "Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/631 of 14 April 2016 establishing a network code on requirements for grid connection of Generators" has applied. At present, this is being transposed into national law by the relevant bodies, such as the VDE-FNN, and we expect an amendment to the technical connection regulations (TAR).*

    Fees

    to the top

    Connection fees

Once the boundary conditions have been clarified, we will provide you with an individual quote for establishing a connection to our high- or medium-voltage grid.
The quote also sets out the connection costs for the connection to our grid and a construction cost subsidy.

The construction cost subsidy is levied in accordance with the Federal Network Agency's “Position Paper on the Levying of Construction Cost Subsidies.” It is calculated as the product of the arithmetic mean of the power prices over the last five years and the contractually agreed power.

Construction cost subsidy = arithmetic mean of the power prices over 5 years (≥ 2,500 h/a) of the grid level × ordered power (kVA) Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Note: Some connection versions and additional actions may entail extra costs which you must bear in addition to the costs of a regular connection.

    Price sheet reactive energy

When withdrawal electrical energy, a displacement factor (cos phi) between 0.9 inductive and 1 must always be observed. If this is not the case, no reactive work is calculated according to the following price sheets.
