Multicoloured instead of uniform grey: choose the best junction box 2015!

Around 1700 artworks, in the form of creatively designed electricity distribution boxes, can now be found across the city.

Around 1700 artworks, in the form of creatively designed electricity distribution boxes, can now be found across the city. Approximately 500 of these were sprayed and spruced up this year alone, as part of the "junction box styling" project. Stromnetz Berlin GmbH carried out the project with the associations meredo e.V. and Helliwood media & education im fjs e.V. for the third time. It gives young Berlin residents the chance to creatively redesign grey or dirty junction boxes in their district or near their schools.

The young participants were supported and taught by experienced street artists. They familiarise themselves with a variety of design techniques and put these into practice. This year, 40 schools with a total of around 1000 pupils took part in the junction box styling project.

To acknowledge this commitment, the project is rounded off with the "most creative junction box 2015" competition. More than 20 school classes entered their results.

That's where you come in: photos of all the boxes taking part in the competition are displayed in the picture gallery on Stromnetz Berlin's website at www.stromnetz.berlin/stromkastenstyling. Alongside an official jury, all Berlin residents can choose their personal favourite there from 4 - 15 November 2015. The winners of the public prize receive a nice prize.

The winning design from last year, designed by a 6th grade at the Ellef-Ringnes elementary school.
