Hummelflug nursery school is situated in the middle of a residential area close to Köpenicker Landstraße in Berlin's Treptow district. Around 90 children aged between one and school age are looked after here every day. Surrounded by green space, the children have the opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna of the nearby Plänterwald.
But in future, they will also have fun playing in their own playground again. Thanks to employees from Stromnetz Berlin GmbH, the children now have a new climbing frame to play on. Last year, the approximately 14 participants in the company's development program "Technician Potential Program" took down the old, ramshackle climbing frame at Hummelflug nursery school on their own initiative. They then purchased and built a new, secure and modern climbing frame, which was inaugurated today.
"I'm proud of our employees for putting the new climbing frame in place in their free time and on their own initiative. Community involvement is important at Stromnetz Berlin and we try to encourage this idea as part of our employee development. Here is a great example of that: the nursery school has a new climbing frame and our employees experience first-hand what they can achieve locally through their involvement. This was a fantastic experience for everyone involved," explains Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Stromnetz Berlin.
