4. Update: Power outage in Berlin-Johannisthal

Stromausfall Johannisthal: Wiederversorgung bis spätestens Donnerstagabend - Herausforderung durch weitere Störung in der Region

One day after the arson attack on two Stromnetz Berlin electricity pylons, electricity supplies were today (10 September) restored to more customers in Treptow-Köpenick. This was made possible by adjustments in other parts of the Berlin electricity grid. By 8 p.m., only 13,700 customers were still without electricity.

Unfortunately, another disruption in the region presented the Stromnetz Berlin team with another challenge. At around 8 p.m. today, a connection line that had been installed in the meantime failed. As a result, around 6,100 households and 200 commercial customers in Adlershof, Alt-Glienicke, Köpenick and Niederschönweide have again been disconnected from the electricity grid. We expect supplies to be restored in the early hours of the morning. The cause of the malfunction is still unclear. This means that around 20,000 customers are currently without electricity.

Since this afternoon and through the night, Stromnetz Berlin employees have been connecting parts of the grid in the vicinity of the Königsheideweg/corner of Späthsfelder Weg construction site that were previously not connected. For this purpose, connecting sleeves are being installed on site in Johannisthal. In this way, we are creating a new and alternative way to bring electricity to the people. The construction measure is an interim solution.

We currently still assume that we will be able to restore the electricity supplies to all customers by tomorrow evening (Thursday) at the latest. The Stromnetz Berlin team is highly motivated and is endeavouring to speed up the construction work if at all possible. Should power be available again sooner, we will inform you immediately.

To start up the interim solution, the power will briefly be interrupted for a few minutes - about the same time as when you change a plug to a different socket. This is quite normal. This is the only way to technically implement the necessary switching measures.

In the meantime, Stromnetz Berlin is continuing to try to connect additional customers to the grid. The prerequisite is that customers who have already been resupplied continue to watch their electricity consumption until Thursday evening and refrain from using the oven, dishwasher and washing machine. That made a lot of difference last night. There is great solidarity in Treptow-Köpenick. The district and the whole of Berlin are clearly united here. Many thanks for that. It helps us a lot.

The end of the power failure is the start of the actual repair

The final repairs to the lines in Johannisthal damaged in the arson attack will start immediately after supplies have been restored to customers.
