Applicants for very large grid connections have been informed of the result of this year'sallocation procedure
23. JuLy.2025
As part of this year's repartitioning procedure, Stromnetz Berlin GmbH was able to distribute the total capacity of 365 megavolt amperes (MVA), which is currently available in three grid areas and will remain available in the foreseeable future, to 37 requests for connection.
By the deadline of 30 June 2025, the company had received 70 requests for high and medium-voltage grid connections - with a total requested connection capacity of around 2,300 MVA. This connected load is around 10 percent higher than the current annual peak load in the entire Berlin electricity grid.
All requests were examined in detail to ensure that the requirements for participation in the repartitioning procedure were met and that a connection service could be allocated.
The result of the review indicated that 47 requests were submitted in full and without contradiction for the three grid areas and could therefore be considered for allocation. However, ten of these requests did not qualify, as the partial power accepted in each case was higher than the power now allocated on a pro rata basis.
Taking into account the partial power accepted in each case, a total of 37 requests were therefore allocated.
The next step will be to draw up a connection concept and a connection offer for these 37 requests by 31 January 2026 at the latest.
The next repartitioning process is expected to begin in April 2026 with publication of both the existing and foreseeable connection capacities available at that time.
