Electricity is now restored for everyone
08.01.2026
Electrical power has now been restored to all domestic and commercial customers in south-west Berlin. This ended the longest power outage in Berlin's post-war history, a power cut that lastes for around 100 hours.
However, over the next few days, there may still be temporary interruptions to the power supply in the areas affected by the arson attack. There are technical reasons for this: during the power outage, temporary connections were established. We are now redirecting these to the completed power line as a result of the major switchover, an operation not dissimilar to plugging a connector into a different socket.
Stromnetz Berlin is still working on the construction of a second temporary power line in Argentinische Allee. We are also making great progress with the construction and assembly work here. Our working assumption is that we will be able to report success here too by the end of the weekend.
We would like to thank the Senate, the districts and district offices, the fire brigade, the police, the Bundeswehr [German Army], THW, aid organisations, other Berlin infrastructure operators, all private individuals who offered their help, our partner companies and the many distribution network operators for their support, as well as all those affected for their patience.
