Following the arson attack in Lichterfelde Power supplies to 4,000 more customers and 180 businesses were restored in the course of this afternoon

04.01.2026

Following the suspected arson attack on a cable bridge over the Teltow Canal in Berlin-Lichterfelde, Stromnetz Berlin is continuing to work on the gradual restoration of supplies to households and businesses in the south-west of Berlin. By switching and connecting from other parts of the network, a further 4,000 households and 180 commercial customers in the Zehlendorf district were supplied with electricity again this Sunday afternoon. They were brought back online during the prioritised resupply of several care facilities.

This means that around 31,000 households and around 1,700 commercial customers are still without electricity at this time in the Nikolassee, Zehlendorf, Wannsee and Lichterfelde districts. To the best of our knowledge at this time, it will probably take until next Thursday afternoon (8 January 2026) before the power is back on for everyone.

At the weekend, Stromnetz Berlin received many offers of help from all over Germany. This solidarity is really great. Specialist personnel and technology from other network operators are already on their way to Berlin, or are already on site. The Bundeswehr will also be providing technical and logistical support.
