For cable route: Trees near Jungfernheide S-Bahn station to be felled

Stromnetz Berlin is making the grid in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf more resilient

16.02.2026

In the coming days, a total of 35 trees will be felled near Jungfernheide S-Bahn station and along Tegeler Weg in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf for the construction of a new cable route for Stromnetz Berlin. The work is being carried out in close coordination with the relevant authorities and will be completed by the end of February. Stromnetz Berlin has already made a legally required compensation payment for the necessary tree felling. By building the cable route, the company is increasing the resilience of the electricity grid in the region. The new line creates additional redundancies and thus increases the security of supply.

Extensive tests for possible alternative routes were carried out in advance. However, due to the high density of existing underground supply lines - including gas, water, district heating and telecommunications infrastructure - no suitable alternative corridor was available. During the work, there may be temporary traffic disruptions on Tegeler Weg.
