Work on the power grid in Johannisthal: Königsheideweg to be closed off again
BVG bus service continues to operate / Closure from January 30 to mid-April / Residents will be informed
27.01.2026
Following the arson attack on two electricity pylons in Berlin-Johannisthal at the start of September 2025, work to restore the grid to its original condition is progressing on schedule and is now entering its final phase. Over the coming weeks, major underground cable works will once again be taking place around the attack site. Accordingly, Königsheideweg will be closed off to private traffic again from January 30 to mid-April. However, BVG bus line 265 will not be affected by this and will continue to operate throughout the entire period. Posts at the construction site will ensure that everything runs smoothly. Diversions will also be clearly signposted. Drivers should simply follow the signs, showing respect to local residents, and ignore the suggestions of their navigation systems.
Stromnetz Berlin will continue to inform residents directly about the next steps in the construction process and when exactly the road closure will be lifted. The length and extent of the closure also depend on the weather. In the event of frost, for example, work cannot be carried out continuously or only to a limited extent.
An arson attack on two Stromnetz Berlin electricity pylons took place on September 9, 2025, leading to an extended power outage in Treptow-Köpenick. At its peak, around 50,000 households and commercial customers were affected by this outage. However, the power supply to thousands of homes and business was then gradually reinstated, with everyone back up and running after around 50 hours.
