In Berlin's Lichtenrade district, fundamental renovation work has begun on the low voltage grid. With a provisional completion date of September 2014, Stromnetz Berlin GmbH will be replacing cables in this area. This doesn't just represent a reduced risk of outages for the affected customers. The grid's transmission performance will also increase, allowing it to cope smoothly with the increasing expansion of decentralised energy producers and electromobility.
The following areas will be affected in 2014:
- Nuthestrasse, from Barnetstrasse to Riefler Strasse
Nuthestrasse, from Bodmerstrasse to Steinstrasse
Parts of Barnetstrasse up to No. 44 and between Nos. 52 - 56
Parts of Dossestrasse
The necessary construction work will take place both on roads and on pavement areas. Temporary disruptions to the electricity supply due to the switch from the old cables to the new cables are unavoidable. Notices will inform those customers affected at least three working days in advance.
Renovation of the energy grid in Lichtenrade will continue in the coming years. By 2018, a total of around 40 kilometres of cable will have been either additionally laid or replaced. To do this, Stromnetz Berlin GmbH is investing more than EUR 5 million.
