Stromnetz Berlin GmbH's response to the decision announced today regarding the electricity concession process in Berlin is as follows
Stromnetz Berlin GmbH's response to the decision announced today regarding the electricity concession process in Berlin is as follows:
"The Senate Department of Finance has announced that the state-owned enterprise Berlin Energie submitted the best tender as part of the concession process for the electricity grid. It can be assumed that the state of Berlin will now conclude a new concession agreement with Berlin Energie. We regret this decision and will conduct an in-depth review of the reason for selection before deciding on a subsequent course of action.
Quite apart from the Senate Department of Finance's decision and the ultimate outcome of the concession process, Stromnetz Berlin will, as it has done up to now, continue to dedicate itself to guaranteeing the security of supply within the Berlin distribution network and move forwards with the digitisation and modernisation of the grid in the interests of all of its customers."
The Berlin grid in figures (2018):
- 35,000 kilometres of power lines (98% laid underground)
- 79 substations
- 11,000 grid and customer stations
- Around 2.3 million network customers
- EUR 194 million in investments (planned for 2019)
- 1,200 employees at Stromnetz Berlin GmbH
