Grey is yesterday: Vote for the best junction box of 2019 now!
Young Berlin residents have the chance to creatively redesign junction boxes in their district and in the vicinity of their schools. Almost 4,000 of these colourful Stromnetz ambassadors can now be found across the city. Approximately 500 junction boxes have been sprayed and spruced up this year as part of the "junction box styling" project. This is the seventh time Stromnetz Berlin GmbH has carried out the project together with the associations meredo e.V. and Helliwood media & education im fjs e.V.
Experienced street artists were on hand to guide the young participants, showing them different design techniques and helping them to apply those techniques to the junction boxes. Around 1,000 pupils from approximately 40 schools took part in this year's junction box styling project.
Now all Berlin residents are asked to vote for the public's favourite: All junction boxes involved in the competition can be viewed on the Instagram profile at www.instagram.com/stromkastenberlin/. You can vote for your favourites at this address until noon on 18 November.
The "Most creative junction box 2019" competition will mark the completion of the project. Around 20 of the participating school classes and project groups have submitted their application for this. A jury will assess the submitted work in two categories, and the winners will be chosen on 27 November. Stromnetz Berlin will then announce the winning boxes on their website.
