Invitation to the 1st Network Experience Day for youngsters: DIY mini flash and counter

On 21 June in Marienfelde - come along and learn about training opportunities - pupils from year 9 upwards

20.05.2025

Stromnetz Berlin is to double the capacity of Berlin's electricity grid by the early 2030s. On 21 June, the company will reveal how an electricity grid works and just what goes on behind the scenes at the 1st Network Experience Day at its site on Wilhelm-von-Siemens-Straße in Marienfelde. Pupils from year 9 onwards are invited to come along and find out about training or a dual study programme with the company and experience "electricity at first hand" for themselves. There are several workshops on topics such as home-made mini flashes, how to build a transformer or how to bend a light yourself. Colleagues from Stromnetz Berlin will be talking about their work and the opportunities the company offers young people after leaving school.

The event is free of charge, will start at 10am and end at 3pm. There is no need to register for the actual day. However, to help with planning, we would be pleased if participants could register for workshops and lectures online in advance: www.stromnetz.berlin/netz-erlebnis-tag Food and drink will be available on site at cost price.

Tom Rütting, Head of Policy and Communications at Stromnetz Berlin, explains the background to the event: "Nothing works in our lives without electricity. You can't see it, but it's really mega important. That's why our aim on this day is for the pupils to be able to take part. We want to give young people an insight into our exciting work, present our four apprenticeships and two dual study programmes, and arouse their curiosity. More than 2,000 people currently work for our company, including around 150 trainees and dual students. This year, we are once again looking for around 50 young people to train and study with us. Maybe that's an option for the participants in the Net Experience Day."
