What specifications must be observed for the installation of a system?

The installation of systems is carried out in accordance with the technical documents that we provide on the installer documents page and in compliance with the requirements of the Low Voltage Connection Ordinance (Niederspannungsanschlussverordnung - NAV).

Are any quality checks carried out on the systems I install?

We carry out random quality checks.

How can I report a fault in a customer installation?

Why do I need to be entered in the installers list?

Section 13 (2) (4) Low Voltage Connection Ordinance (Niederspannungsanschlussverordnung - NAV) states that work on the electrical system downstream of the grid connection fuse may only be carried out by the grid operator or an installation company that is entered in a grid operator’s installers list.

The principles of cooperation also apply.

How do I apply to be entered in the installers list?

To register in the Stromnetz Berlin installers list, please use our online form in the Installer Service Portal to register as a Berlin installation company or for a guest entry if you are based outside Berlin.

What documents are required for entry in the register of installers?

What qualifications does the responsible specialist have to have?

You will find details of the qualifications required of a specialist for registration in the  Information sheet on the registration of installation companies on page 15.

Where can I get a TREI licence or the certificate of competence?

You will receive the certificate of competence (TREI licence) after successfully completing the inspection, which you can obtain from the Berlin/Brandenburg State Guild Association for the Electrical Trades.

Will I receive proof of registration in the installers list?

After successfully registering as an installation company in the Stromnetz Berlin installers register, you will receive an email including digital proof of registration as soon as your registration has been confirmed. This certificate contains a QR code that can be used to check the validity status of the registration at any time.

How long is an entry in the installers register valid?

Following the decision by the state guild committee of 1 April 2024, a registration period of 5 years now applies to Berlin installation companies.

The validity of the registration for guest installers generally corresponds to the validity period of your installer licence issued by your network operator. If this is unlimited, the guest registration is limited to 2 years.

How can I have my entry in the installers register deleted?

Please send us your request for removal of the entry in writing, stating the reason. The managing director’s confirmation must be enclosed.

How do I find my network operator’s number for a guest registration?

If you do not know your network operator’s number, you can enter the name of your network operator in the guest registration form in the Installer Service Portal. The number is automatically obtained from the BDEW database and added to the form.

You are also welcome to find out the number of your network operator (VNB number) yourself from the BDEW website.

We are an installation company from another EU country – what do I need to bear in mind?

For cross-border activities, please refer to the information in the information sheet on the registration of installation companies in section 7.

What do I have to do if my company details change?

If your company details change, please let us know immediately via a contact enquiry in the  Installer Service Portal mit.

You will find further information on this in the document Principles of Cooperation in section 3.6. Please enclose the corresponding official proof.

What happens if the responsible specialist leaves the company?

If your responsible specialist leaves your company, please let us know immediately via a contact request in the Installer Service Portal.

The authorisation for electrical work in accordance with Section 13 (2) (4) of the  Low Voltage Connection Ordinance (Niederspannungsanschlussverordnung - NAV) expires with immediate effect until you have registered a new specialist with us. Transitional periods are possible in individual cases.

What do I have to do if my contact details change?

If any of your contact details change, such as your phone number, please inform us immediately via a contact enquiry in the Installer Service Portal.

How do I obtain authorisation for work above 1,000 V (medium-voltage authorisation)?

For work above 1,000 V, you must obtain and provide proof of a switching authorisation certificate. This is valid for 4 years after completion.

You can request the extension for work above 1,000 V in the online form when you first register in the Installer Service Portal, inklusive des entsprechenden Nachweises veranlassen.

    Information on workshop inspections

    What is a workshop inspection?

    This is a check that is carried out on your meters.

    A workshop inspection must be demonstrated independently for the initial registration and an extension of the registration.

    How can I arrange a workshop inspection?

    A workshop inspection is carried out by the Berlin/Brandenburg Electricians’ Guild (Landesinnungsverband E-Handwerk Berlin/Brandenburg.

    You can make an appointment for a workshop inspection with the Berlin/Brandenburg State Guild Association for the Electrical Trades by sending an email to [email protected].

    How do I obtain a seal number and pliers?

    We issue the individual seal number. You must obtain the corresponding sealing pliers yourself from a specialist retailer.

    Guest installers use their own sealing pliers.

    To do this, send an email to [email protected].

    I have lost my sealing pliers – what do I do?

    You must report the loss of your sealing pliers to us immediately. Your network operator will provide you with a new seal number.

    What enquiries are to be made via the customer portal?

    You can use our customer portal to initiate a variety of processes relating to the grid connection. These include:

    • Low-voltage grid connection up to 250 A (installation, modification of an existing connection, dismantling of a connection)
    • Site power connection
    • Wallbox – registration of charging devices for electric vehicles on your grid connection up to 250 A
    • Photovoltaic systems (PV systems) up to 100 kWp

    How do I log in to the customer portal as a guest installer?

    Applications for a grid connection can be submitted by Berlin installation companies or guest installers via the customer portal.

    This requires a one-off registration stating the four-digit network operator ID and the last 5 digits of your individual number assigned by the network operator (XXXX-XXXXX).

    Who sets up the meters?

    In our low-voltage grid, meters are only set up by installers who have concluded a separate contract with us to do so.

    We have published the list of meter installers on the Meter application / installation page. Please make an appointment to have a meter set up directly with one of the companies listed there.

    I am removing a meter from Stromnetz Berlin on behalf of another metering point operator – what do I need to bear in mind?

    If you remove one of our meters, it must be returned to us within 5 working days.

    Returns are made via our meter store.
