Restructuring of grid in Treptow-Köpenick
To increase capacity and improve security of supply, we are laying new high-voltage cables in the district.
The images are intended to illustrate underground cable construction work and do not depict any of the upcoming construction sites.
Berlin's increasing demand for electricity makes it necessary to expand the power grid. We will therefore more than double our capacity by 2033.
From the second quarter of 2025, new high-voltage cables will be laid in Treptow-Köpenick for this purpose. The construction work is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.
Construction work schedule
The cable work will be carried out during ongoing operations. In order to ensure the power supply at all times, the planned work will be carried out sequentially in different construction phases.
The grid restructuring covers the districts of Adlershof Ost, Spindlersfeld and Altstadt-Kietz Köpenick. The following streets or sections of streets are affected by the measures:

Expected disruptions during construction work
- During construction work, there will be temporary restrictions/partial closures on public roads.
- Temporary noise is to be expected during construction work on weekdays from 7 am to 8 pm (depending on the season).
Note: Emergency routes and access to private properties will remain open.
