Modernisation of substation in Bohemian village

The Berlin cityscape is marked by an ever-greater number of electric vehicle charging stations and roof-mounted and balcony-mounted solar panels. In the future, Berlin's electrical grid will also be responsible, in part, for heating. So the grid can be made ready for all these new tasks, we are going to renovate and expand the substation in the area of the Bohemian village.

But with all the new things going on, we will not lose sight of what we have. We are expanding the substation with respect for the architecture of the locality. The new buildings will fit the style of the existing farmhouses, being designed to look like a barn. The design has been approved by the local historical building preservation authorities.

Information on the planned construction works

• Civil engineering work on the construction of the expansion is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The expansion is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.

• Installation of the electrical systems is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2029 and continue through the third quarter of 2030.

• Cable laying will take place again starting in the third quarter of 2030. The power grid will be expanded by the second quarter of 2031.

• Work will take place on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. (depending on the season) and will result in increased noise levels during certain phases.

• Construction noise will not occur throughout the entire construction period, but only during specific phases necessary for the construction work.

• Access to private properties will remain available, but there will be restrictions on public roads.

• Emergency access routes will remain open at all times.

• There will be no planned power outages.
