Restructuring of the network in Steglitz-Zehlendorf
Berlin’s demand for electricity is constantly growing. To ensure that the electricity supply remains secure and reliable in the future, Stromnetz Berlin is expanding and modernising the electricity grid in various parts of the city. The work in Steglitz-Zehlendorf forms part of this expansion programme.
Where the construction is taking place
The works are taking place in the districts of
- Steglitz,
- Lichterfelde,
- Lankwitz.
The works will be carried out in several phases and implemented step by step.
Construction period
The construction work will take place from 2026 until, it is expected, 2030. The work will be carried out in stages. Not all roads will be affected throughout the entire period.
We will inform local residents of any upcoming construction work in good time before work begins.
Construction work
Cables and empty conduits are being laid on public roads as part of the expansion of the electricity grid. The work is being carried out in stages to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses as much as possible. Once a stage of construction is complete, the worksite moves on to the next section. Where possible, excavation pits are filled in again immediately after the work is completed.
Will there be any power cuts?
No. No planned power cuts are scheduled to take place during the construction work.
Should I expect noise?
Yes. Civil engineering works cannot be carried out entirely without noise. However, the loudest noise will only occur during specific, short-term phases of the work and not throughout the entire construction period.
Will properties still be accessible?
Yes. Access to properties will generally remain unaffected. Should specific restrictions be necessary in individual cases, we will inform those affected in good time.
Will emergency routes remain accessible?
Yes. Emergency routes will remain accessible at all times.
Will waste collection continue as normal?
Yes. Waste collection will continue as normal during the construction work. Please also note any additional information provided by Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR).
Will shops and public facilities remain accessible?
Yes. Access to shops, medical practices and public facilities will remain unaffected.
