Treasures, chickens and lots of love - Berlin’s most beautiful electricity boxes honoured

The winners of Stromnetz Berlin’s ‘Electricity Box Styling 2025’ competition hail from Reinickendorf, Wedding, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Lichtenberg and Marzahn

21.01.2026

They are often grey, inconspicuous and can be found all over Berlin - Stromnetz Berlin operates more than 18,000 electricity boxes and transformer stations. Every year, schoolchildren in the capital transform 500 of them into real eye-catchers with graffiti during project weeks. Around half of the boxes and stations have already been embellished in this way in recent years. The most creative of these are selected and honoured online and by a jury every year. The prizes for the ‘Power Box Styling 2025’ awards in the categories ‘Projects’, ‘Classic’, ‘Freestyle’ and ‘Transformer Station’ were presented by Tom Rütting, Head of Communications at Stromnetz Berlin on 21 January at the Moabit cogeneration plant. The winners of the competition come from Reinickendorf, Wedding, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Lichtenberg and Marzahn.

Once again this year, a large number of the young artists involved came to the traditional prize-giving ceremony. Ahead of this ceremony, a jury comprising media representatives, citizens, graffiti artists and representatives from Stromnetz Berlin had selected the winning motifs. The prizes were then handed over to the school pupils in the form of vouchers for activities that they were able to choose themselves.

The winners were:
