How can urban distribution networks be made ready for the energy revolution? Over the past three years, scientists from the Chair of Electrical Energy Supply Technology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal have been working with the grid planning department at Siemens AG as well as Stromnetz Berlin GmbH and five other electricity grid operators to answer this question. They have now successfully completed the “PuBStadt” project and published a 300-page comprehensive guide that will serve as an aid for urban network operators in future planning and investment decisions. The project team has also developed a workshop on the subject, for which interested parties can now register.
From October 2021, a new standard process for bottleneck management in power grids (Redispatch 2.0) will be launched. From 1 July, the network operator cooperation Connect+ will provide a nationwide solution for data exchange free of charge.
