From the end of May until mid-December 2014, Stromnetz Berlin GmbH is replacing the existing overhead line system in the Altglienicke district with underground cables. Not only does this mean that customers in Altglienicke will have a lower risk of power failures, it will also increase the transmission power of the grid, so that more decentralised energy generators, electric vehicles and charging stations can be connected in future.
The necessary building works in Altglienicke will primarily take place on roads and pavements. This will affect roads such as Falkenbrunnstrasse, Preussenstrasse, Drössestrasse, Herulerstrasse and Germanenweg.
Households which currently receive their electricity supply via a private transmission line household connection will receive a new connection in the course of the overhead cable removal process.
