30.06.2022
Thomas Schäfer, long-time Chairman of the Management Board of Stromnetz Berlin GmbH, is leaving the company at his own request on 30 June 2022. The process for filling his position on the Management Board has already been initiated by the relevant committees.
Thomas Schäfer: "I informed the Supervisory Board at the end of last year that I would like to leave Stromnetz Berlin GmbH in summer in accordance with the terms of my contract. After 45 years of working in the energy industry, seven of which have been very intense in this management position, I would now like to focus on my family. In particular, I would like to thank all Stromnetz Berlin colleagues for their support and cooperation during a time that was marked by numerous challenges and important decisions for the Berlin electricity grid."
The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company, State Secretary Tino Schopf, would like to thank Thomas Schäfer for his extraordinary commitment: "The Supervisory Board respects this wish and at the same time deeply regrets his decision to leave the company. With his far-sighted and skilled corporate management approach, Thomas Schäfer has safely guided the Berlin distribution system operator through a very challenging time. Whether it was challenges arising from the energy transition, the further improvement of the reliability of the electricity supply or the change of ownership, he always managed Stromnetz Berlin GmbH with prudence and extensive technical expertise, helping to make the company better and more efficient. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this and wish Thomas Schäfer all the best for his personal future."
Until the appointment process for the Management Board position has been completed, Dr Erik Landeck will be the sole Managing Director of Stromnetz Berlin.
