Expansion of the distribution network in the south of Berlin
In the south of Berlin, we are renovating our high-voltage grid on a large scale.
This reduces the risk of customers being affected by a power failure. Furthermore, the transmission power of the grid will be increased in order to be able to easily absorb the growing expansion of decentralised energy production and the growing electromobility.

Our construction measures mainly concern three areas in south Berlin:
1) the districts: Steglitz, Lankwitz, Marienfelde, Lichtenrade. Here, we will renew and expand from January 2021 to the 1st quarter of 2023 over an entire route of approx. 14.5 km. We are working on several sections of road in parallel.
2) Neukölln, Rudow district. Here, we will renew and expand from January 2021 to the 1st quarter of 2023 over a distance of approx. 10.5 km.
3) district Lichterfelde: Here we are renewing the network over a distance of around 4.7 km in the period from March 2021 to the 4th quarter of 2026.
The removal will take place predominantly on the cycle lanes and footpaths. Sometimes, however, there may be disruptions on the road (e.g. one-sided closures or road restrictions). Access routes and entrances to land may also be temporarily restricted.
Short-term interruptions to the power supply are not planned. Should short-term interruptions nevertheless be necessary, we shall inform the affected customers in good time - at least 3 working days in advance - with notices. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding.
